2nd Annual Hillsboro Heritage Day, Hillsboro, NM, Saturday, May 17, 2008: Proceeds from the 2008 Hillsboro Heritage Day will contribute to the Hillsboro Historical Society's purchase of the historic site of Hillsboro's stately brick courthouse and stone jail, built in 1892, and to the all-volunteer-operated historic Hillsboro Community Center and Hillsboro Community Library.

The Hillsboro Historic Home & Garden Tour will feature guided tours of selected unique historic homes and gardens in the village of Hillsboro. The tour will run from 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The Heritage Music Festival will showcase regional bands that express a diversity of traditional music styles, including folk, blues, country and bluegrass. The Festival will take place Saturday afternoon and evening from 2 - 10 p.m. in the historic Hillsboro Community Center, with a Silent Auction running concurrently. Bands: Electric Campfire Orchestra - Acoustic electric swing oldies; The Deming Fusiliers - Appalachian string band; The Sabinal Sisters - Variety western swing & soft folksy ballads; Holy Water & Whisky Band - Harmonious vocals, folk to gospel to "whiskey" songs, Mackie Redd - Local singer-songwriter with Nashville roots; The Ronstadt Cousins, with Peter McLaughlin - Flattop Champion & Chris Brasear - Southwest ballads & bluegrass; and The Adobe Brothers - High-energy danceable bluegrass. 45-50 minute sets, except headliners.
