Cosi fan tutte

Love…with a twist. Mozart’s outwardly comical opera deals with the serious issues of love and fidelity. Two men are challenged by their cynical friend to put their fiancés’ love to a test. The deeply stirring score is at odds with the libretto, creating an emotional disparity, probably by Mozart’s design. Deep down, Cosi fan tutte provides a sharp reminder of how often the true depth of our feelings is sadly contradicted by clumsy statements and predictable actions.
