Marilyn Manson

From age 5 through his first year of high school he was enrolled in a Christian boarding school, an experience he says turned him against organized religion. Takes his stage name from Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson. Formed the band that bears his (stage) name in 1990, and not long after, he met fellow Ohio native Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. Marilyn Manson became the first act signed by Reznor's label, Nothing Records, and they opened for Nine Inch Nails on their 1994 tour. Published his autobiography, The Long Hard Road Out of Hell (cowritten with Neil Strauss), in 1998. Was ordained a minister in the Church of Satan in 1994. Substitute taught a class at Philadelphia's Temple University for the MTVu series Stand In. Paints watercolors in his spare time. ~ Rovi
